I have semi-retired now due to the fact I have done it all. It is hard to get excited about making my 100th Green Lantern or Black Knight custom figure. I never needed the money, this was always just a hobby to me. Most of the money I made, I simply re-invested in to my projects. I briefly considered Warcraft and DCU. I have created roughly 5,000 custom action figures through out my custom figure career. I am not asserting that this means I am best figure action figure customizer! I am far from the best. My gift has always been speed and production. In the customizing boom during the late 90's early 2000s. True 'artists' were putting up 2-3 toys a month. I was doing at least 6 a week. With an endless amount of commision orders on the side. I was the McDonald's of the custom toy world. However, There are still some real gems to be found here.
One of my favorite sets to make. They pulled in over $500.00. Every time. The cost to me was roughly $40.00 in materials and about 12 hours of work.
Which is about $38.00 an hour, for doing
something I absolutely loved.
